Dosage charts for raising alkalinity using sodium bicarbonate were also off, by about 7%.

In a research report (published by…

Organizations seek to turn education into a commodity

Exploding Filters

Exploding Filters

All types of swimming pool filters operate under pressure.  If air is trapped in the filter and not released the air will continue to compress while the filter is operating.  Small amounts of air can work its way out of the filter but large amounts will compress to a dangerous level.…

"You Can't Do That, Brian"

A long, long time ago in a far, faraway place called the San Fernando Valley, I was chided by my boss with those words. I had dared ask to be paid by him to take apart, clean and reassemble filters. I was being paid $3.25 per visit to clean the pool and check and balance the chemicals. The "boss", I guess owner of the company would be more accurate since he paid me as a subcontractor, also expected me to clean the filters as part of this service. I had asked to be paid $5.00 to perform this…

How Do I Stop the Thing?

Yesterday I installed a Pentair SunTouch with an Intelliflo VS+ pump.
