Green building trends and their importance to our future

Good day Pool Genius Network, and your Green Movement group.

To date I must admit I have not been as involved in this wonderful

networking alliance for our industry that I could/should have been. Lots

to do when you are building a new business and market segment as I am

with AquaFinesse. Let's see if i can't change this moving forward.

I was researching some key words today and came across a discussion in the green movement group relative to working… Continue

4 “Hot” Ways to Capitalize on Niche Products – Episode #3

Have you ever noticed that, when you are watching television, you quite often really despise commercial

breaks? Have you ever noticed that, some days, the commercials actually seem to call out your name and get you really excited?

This is my experience, if you care to hear about it. Let's say I am watching an evening sitcom like,…

4 “Hot” Ways to Capitalize on Niche Products – Episode #1

You may not keep up on Paris Hilton's daily life, but I would be astonished if there is a single person left in North America who does not know who she is. She has made the term “hot,” hot.

I would like to discuss “Niche” marketing with you. Paris Hilton is a Niche entertainer. She has found a way to capitalize on her targeted market. I want to…

Swimming Pool Donation

I would like everyone to know about a special project I am working on. My company is building a gunite pool with an attached spa for an 8 year old boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. With the help of my subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, and material suppliers we are building this pool for FREE! This 8 year old boy, Christian Cacciaguerra needs warm water therapy to slow down the effects of this disorder.

I would ask that if anyone would like to donate to this project it would be… Continue

New Study from Spain Claims Chlorinated Pools are Cancer Risk

This article seems thinly researched to me, and I am wondering why they don't link the cancer risk to chlorinated drinking water systems. I have tested water in my lab before and found the tap water from our sink was more highly chlorinated than the swimming pool water I was testing.

What are your thoughts on this article, and is APSP responding to this one? It seems to me this is very bad press for our indsutry and likely to be faulty…

Gray Mottling Discoloration #2

As discussed in our previous write-up (#1), NPC representatives Greg Garrett and Randy Dukes (incorrectly) claim that improper chemistry startups or aggressive water causes gray (or grey) mottling discolorations in new white plaster swimming pools. We (onBalance) put their theory to some tests. The following is an abbreviated summary from a series of our experiments, and we thank IPSSA for…
