I am still trying to find my way around this complicated industry.
You seem to hold many of the same educational beliefs about the industry which I have been struggling with. The standards of excellence are not very well defined as yet - they are trying.
I wrote an article for promoting fitness in hospitals. The suggestion has been made to 1.) submit to AEA or 2.) submit to a broader market segment.
I don't wish to slight AEA yet I beleive my product is too new for them and is better targeted to hotels/spas first. AEA was a tremendous help when I first had the prototypes. In fact I delayed production in order to incorporate one more featured exercise - the Seated Balance. I am forever thankful to the AEA trainers at the international conference.
I thought I might submit two articles to AEA at the same time I submit to other venues. The hospital fitness isn't really the right article for AEA.
