Visionary Science, Artful Application was the conference theme. A series of keynotes and events helped illustrate the link between our industry and society including science, health, art, athletics, socio-economic and cultural influences. “The world does not care about pool chemicals, filters, and such things. People care about their families and their health. The conference spotlighted how each of us can be remarkable in ways that relate to society’s priorities,” explained Thomas M. Lachocki, Ph.D., CEO of the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®), founding organizer of the WAHC.
“With relevance, comes long-term prosperity,” added Dr. Lachocki, who urged, “Each of us must take initiative to collaborate, challenge ourselves and each other, and find solutions to today’s problems. We must reject passivity, advocate health benefits, and lead courageously – every day.”
From the keynote presentation by USA Swimming’s CEO, Chuck Wielgus, to riveting closing remarks from world-class motivational speaker Byron Embry— known for his 100 mph fastball— relevancy, collaboration, and taking action were messages not to be ignored.
