Chloramines - the misunderstood TRUTH

I wanted to chime in on the Chloramine debate.

Every time I hear about another gadget that is supposed to lower or eliminate chloramines, and improve bather comfort, I always replay an old "Poolman's Proverb":

"IF YOU SMELL IT, YOURE NOT ADDING ENOUGH"

This has always been the case - Since chemical automation was introduced in the 1970's, a very important part of the formula for Water Quality Control Systems went missing:  PROPER CHEMICAL FEEDER SIZING.

Answer these simple questions:

  • Does it take more than 20 minutes for your pool to correct changing pH using automation?
  • Does your ORP level stay well below setpoint (10+ mV), until the bather loading stops?
  • Can your Water Quality Control System maintain within 3 mV of ORP Setpoint during the busiest period of use?
  • Does your pool cloud up at the end of a heavy bathing period?

If you answered "YES" to either of these - Your pool's chemical feeders are grossly undersized, and could possibly be the reason for your Chloramine woes in the first place...

UV and Ozone systems are just Bandaids to the problem, and sometimes, even when they are in place, the problem can be worsened!  Recent Studies show that both Ozone and UV systems produce Disinfection Bi-Products that the EPA considers harmful to human health; Looks like the Bandaids are starting to peel off!

If you have UV, and either of these are occuring:

  • Continued presence of Chloramines in the air or by test
  • Continued water clarity issues

...then your Water Quality is still being compromised by undersized chemical feeders, and/or poor controller programming...

Now, believe me - UV and Ozone HAVE A PLACE in the Aquatic Industry, but I hate to hear it when a customer is given promise after promise of  these systems being a "Cure All" for their issues...

I am offering a FREE evaluation for ANY pool, anywhere in the US, to help you correct these issues with a simple and tried true solution...Correctly sized chemical feeders, and correctly configured controller parameters.

I guarantee all of my work, and I dont dissappoint!
