Need help writing GOOD job descriptions

My company will start the hiring process in the next couple of weeks, and they asked me to come up with some good job descriptions to put on craigs list for construction, service & general laborers.

If anybody has any good ads, I'd love to see them! Thanks!

We are located in ME & NH if any experienced people are looking.........email me for more info.

  • Darlene, I have seen some great job descriptions and some truly terrible ones. I think the secret to Craigslist is transparency. List all the qualifications you require (bullet points are easy and clear), and all the benefits you offer. If you are looking for a 100% professional applicant, then make sure your grammer is perfect and your ad reflects the type of person you are looking for. If you want someone with personality, speak like a "real" person in the ad, and indicate that there is room for some fun and adventure on the job.

The one thing that drives me nuts when I read job descriptions is an ad with no meat! Tell people what you need, and, for the most part, only folks who fit the description will apply. All that being said, I have found some great examples here: http://www.samplejobdescriptions.org/
