  • I think 2010 is looking better for pool builders - I know I talk to quite a few who seem pretty optimistic! budgets are much tighter but if you can build a good pool for a fair price there seem to be sales to be made!
  • One of the blessings of 2009 for me was the hiring of a fantastic crew leader. That allowed me to spend more time working on my business instead of working in it. I think it’s very easy to get tunnel vision in this business and we have to learn to allow people to go out and make some mistakes as long as we help them learn from them. 2009 for me saw a substantial increase in work load and I live in the Detroit market. Another area I had success in this past year was the hospitality industry. Indoor hotel pools tend to be neglected or at least improperly cared for by the hotel maintenance personnel.

I think 2010 will be even better with the on site leak training for pool service contractors I am starting as of this month. I look forward to using my knowledge of thirty plus years in this business to help others become more successful. I am also continuing to push my connections at Ecolab to get more proactive with regard to repairs on clients pools.

    Happy New Year
