Most likely other than loose change, car keys and pocket fuzz you will find your favorite personal electronic device your cell phone or the new smart phones. With new smart phone technology and expanding faster networks we will be using these devices in many new ways to assist us in our personal and business lives. Just think how your life has changed since the first cell phones were introduced, how did we even function without them? The new smart phones are taking over as mobile web use and mobile marketing and advertising explodes. Mobile is the new Internet, the new dot.com. With 4.5 billion active mobile phones in the world and 1.2 billion sold in the last 4 quarters in a recession you need to go where your customers are going. Have you taken your business mobile yet? If not it’s not a matter of if you will; it’s a matter of when.Among the devices making up the heaviest use of the mobile web are the iPhone and it’s non-phone counterpart the iPod Touch. The data traffic created by these two handhelds has increased nearly 19 times since September 2008. They also account for nearly 48% of smart phone web traffic worldwide and in the US.Apples exploding popularity as a mini hand held computer isn’t just because their cool and fun, but because of the opening of development of it’s applications to developers. Developers can develop and market their applications through Apple's iTunes App Store. There you will find unlimited applications to assist you for FREE or minimal cost.Wow! Since September 2008 when Apple opened up the App Store there has been over 100,000 apps developed and over 2 billion downloads of everyone’s favorite apps.So if you haven’t looked at mobile lately you better reach into your pocket and see how your website looks mobile. You may want to change your format for mobile devices to harness the power of the new Internet because that is where your customers are.You might also go to Apples business website and view the company profiles on how mobile is changing the way we do business. Also don’t forget the silent giant iPod Touch, which does everything the iPhone, does excluding GPS, phone, video and camera.See how it can help you in your business at Apples website and explore the new ways to market your company and provide interactive customer management with mobile devices. Please comment and let everyone know how you have gone mobile and how mobile devices have assisted you in your business. I am working on a list of what mobile can do for you and would like everyone's input on that list to share.Mark RichterPool Pro Office
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. If old dogs want to stay ahead of the pack they have to continually learn new tricks or sit on the porch. Mark
Thanks for the confirmation on the iPhone as being a great choice! I am truly not a big fan of AT&T (currently the only provider for the iPhone, as I am sure you know!), but I do love the phone for what is allows me to do (and it is pretty cool, like Rex says!). As for the press conference, one can only wonder with Apple!
I build pools for friends only, and I am a partner in a business that is setting out to become the leader in treating pool water without draining (you can visit our website at www.poolservicestech.com). Very green, very aware of our industry and the impact we have on water consumption, and attempting to raise the bar for pool water conservation and purification!
I sure do love this page! What a great group, and always something fun to talk or learn about!
Hello Bruce, great choice in mobile device and the coolest and easiest to use. With the App store exploding Apple is changing the way we use mobile phones to assist in managing our personal lives and business. Are you using your phone as a pool builder or service company? Also just out Apple has called a press conference for January 26th, is this the the iPad Notebook or whatever there going to call it? Mark
iPhone here; don't know what I'd do without it! We take credit cards with an app (Intuit), and can access email, the web and our accounting software, not to mention that cool Pentair app! I also have the light app, level app (to name a few) and plenty of music and games to keep me occupied in between!
Thank you! I never thought to check . . . After reading this I went to my website on my Palm Pre. Luckily I could read the print and dial the phone number with just a click. Not sure I'm ready for the scheduling on my phone. Wow!
Jeremy - Sprint has an app/add on that allows you to take credit cards on your phone. Do you use it? If so, any feedback?
Hello Jeremy, does your mobile phone have a internet browser capabilities? If so you could access a database solution that would allow you to manage your business over the internet. You could also access a server that housed all your data.
Another way you could use your phone if you had a remote desktop app would be to access your desktop anytime to from the field. Mark
The largest selection of smart phone apps are available on the iPhone or iTouch at Apples App store. Over 100,000 apps available and growing fast. You can also develop your own marketing app or service app customized for your business. We just finished an app for a pool builder for marketing as a free download on their website. It also has a complete presentation on it to provide potential customer while designing their pool, and then it provides customer care from the PTA during construction and after construction. Mobile devices will not only be able to assist you in your daily business activities but also in providing customer care and service for your customers. A good example for you would be that your customers could request a service call directly from their phone and log it into a database program where you could schedule it. You could push confirmation and update them on schedule. You could even invoice them and they could pay your invoice on their phone, all paperless. The possibilities of this new and exploding technology are endless. Mark
no, i havnet looked at business apps. I downloaded a GeoCaching app, thats about the only app i've found to be of any real use. What business and marketing apps are you suggesting for my repair business?
