Today I went out to install a hydrostat and fill a new pool. We installed an "Aquastar" 32 inch slot drain. This drain was chosen because it was unblockable and could be used in leiu of dual drains.
My giant complaint about this drain----- there is no hydrostat in the world that will fit in to it other than their very special hydrostat. Nobody mentioned this at the shows. The sales literature doesn't mention this shortcoming. The instructions don't mention this giant problem. There I was in Kansas City. Today is Thursday. The wedding party at the pool is Saturday. The closest "very special hydrostat" is lost in the wilds of Aquastar's back room. It never occured to me that they planned to screw me with this problem. I was not ready for "Buyer Beware".
I believe that this set up is and was planned by Aquastar. The lack of communication about the screwey hydrostat installation at the front end is on purpose. They want us to pressure our suppliers about the hydrostats.
I have got to wonder, "What is the next suprise that they have planned?" The only way to stay away from the next suprise is to stay away from Aquastar.
They need more pool guys and less corporate types in the design phase.
I am very disappointed in them.
