  • Yes the Floatron is a Copper Silver Irioniser that is Powered by the sun. It seams to be sold at shows, never seen them advertised in Pool publications or sold in Shops.

They seem to work but then any new method is great for the neglected pool.

Thomson Tech in California makes a great unit and they are fitted into the return line, great when combined with Ozone.

  • I like as low of chlorine residual as is safe, but I'm not a real fan of metal in a pool.  This sounded kind of interesting and the guy that had it loved it.  You never know; one day one of these things will actually work!

I was going to offer the company the use of my pool to test one (as long as I got it for free, of course!), but that voice mail message scared me away.  I would hate to think that someone would leave a message like that, especially in this economy!

  • While I see an advantage to using minerals to supplement chlorine, I would use something simple like Pool Rx as opposed to the Floatron. I have never seen one in the wild and it seems to both over promise and to be over complicated.

  • OK, so no input!  I really didn't think I'd get any, and I really don't know that I want to be involved with this anyway.

FWIW, I called the company.  After a dozen rings, I get voice mail (it's about 12:30).  "We're sorry, but we are not in at this time.  Please call back, or if you must, leave a message".  Not getting any warm fuzzies from that!

Thanks all who looked at the post.  Sorry I wasted your time!
