I have a customer that has recurring CD equipment failures in thier indoor pool. They use the equipment for water arobics and is installed in the pool area. They are looking for a piece of equipment that can stand up to the humidity. Does anyone have a solution?Regards,Brian

  • By cd i am assuming we are talking sound system...if so yes humidity is hard on any stereo equipment unless it is a marine grade system that tend to be very pricey. cheapest alternative would be to relocate the stereo unit indoors & use wireless remote outdoor speakers. They are weatherproof & relativly inexpensive compared to a marine sound system. I use a setup like this outdoors...works great
  • Hi Monique, thanks for the info & video. I have passed this on to my customer.

John, I have to agree with you that it is important to find a method to control the humidity. You may be interested in viewing the attached customer experience. There are photographs included which show how dramatically using a liquid pool cover can lower the humidity levels in an indoor facility. I hope this helps!

That may solve one problem, but brings to question whether air handling equipment is sufficient. Also cover pool to reduce humidity when not in use (at minimum one of the liquid "solar covers" available. I had experience with a standard natural gas heater actually going through heat exchangers from outside in because of inadequate humidity control. (I wasn't the first one in, but still have the customer.)

  • Thanks very much fellas that should help alot.
  • I would recommend what Jeremy does with one note. Make sure it is in a sealed (front) enclosure, usually a clear or tinted window with a gasket, and the back (vented) side has air flow around it that is not overly humid. You can also place a small fan at the back to keep the air moving. The face enclosures are available from both the marine supply stores or some spa supply distribution.
As a note these stereo units are 12 volt not 120 or 240 volt so if you are using a "plug" in model now you would need a transformer to power up the new unit. Also available through the spa distribution.

  • I am aware of "Marine Grade" in dash tuners, cd players. You find them on boats and in portable hot tubs. I know Kenwood makes a couple of models. I have a couple performed warranty replacements in the past for hot tub manufacturers.

  • Sorry I was not clear, it is a music CD system.
