I have a client that has a stain issue that is new to me. This client has some pink stains along the walls and on the bottom of her pool. The stains are about an inch high and 2-3 inches long.
Here are some clues that might help:
1. The surface is concrete
2. The stains have been there since before October of last year.
3. Pumice stones and brushes have been used to try to eliminate the stains with no effect,
4. The pH is 7.5, the chlorine is 0.7 and the temperature is 86-87 degrees.
5. The stains are like a permanent marker, not slimy like algae.
The client says that some people have told her that it may be due to the magnesium in the city water.
Any of you guys out there have any clue? The client would like to remove the stains and know how to prevent future occurances.

Have you tried Jack's Magic Stain I.D. kit?
By the way, how do you know Lee Wood? He and I used to work closely while he was the TN State Pool Reg. before his promotion. Great guy!
How porous is the surface?
