  • My techs took different prep courses. The best one seemed to be offered by Technical Skills Development Services, as suggested by Mr Conely above, in that this course gives you a web login where you can take practice tests related to the appliance installer exam, even over Article 680. These are the only practice tests on the pool section that we ran across.

For general test from residential wireman to Master, you can purchase the book of practice tests from ray holder electrical seminars. I, personally did not take a prep course but did use some of the practice test from this book, The first 6 tests in this book, through residential wireman, are more on par with the appliance installer test.

    Good luck with the exam.
  • I did find electrician pre test so I've been using those and it has helped getting to know the book. Some of the prep courses are not very good but they know everyone has to do this so it's a quick way to make money.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate your time.

    Thanks again

  • Brian,

Unfortunately, I am not aware of anyone that offers just a practice test. Several of the prep courses include a practice test as part of the class.

    Good Luck.

I did take a prep course but they did not give us a pre test and that really helps getting to know the Nec book, This test is hard and it's nothing that we use.
  • Yes, In Texas now we must have a license to install motors etc. anything requiring you to disconnect hard wires. $500.00 fine per occurrence per day if we don't have this license as of March 1st. We almost had to be a licensed electrician to do these simple jobs but pool groups went to bat for our industry in Austin and it's this or we are screwed.

I recommend you take a prep course before attempting to pass the test. Technical Skills Development Services offers a quality course.

  • Is this a requirement for your state? If so, what state are you located in?
