My firm manages HOA's, one of which is preparing to have the existing 15yr old plaster pool resurfaced for the first time.  One proposal we have received was for the use of Ultra Guard coating.  In researching this product, I could find no reviews or assessments of the product that was greater than 2 years or so.  I was hoping to find some 5 yr+ reviews/reports of the material after a considerable period.  The limiting factor may be the time the product has been on the market.

We are recieving proposals from local firms for replastering/resurfacing.  But to the point, does anyone have long term experience with this product?  Thanks for any assisstance and hope this posting is not in violation of policy.

  • Tom, My company re-surfaces plaster with a method of acid washing the plaster to remove stains and expose marble evenly. Then we polish or sand the surface down smooth. The thickness of plaster that is applied to a pool varies from 1/2 to 3/4" and the amount we polish off is around 1/8". The cost of re-surface by polishing is 1/2 or less and can be done in as little as 1 day. I am sure there is someone in your area that does this type of re-surfacing, check around.
