I have a couple of customers that don't want to repair their salt chlorine systems, opting to go back to chlorine tablets and powder or liquid shock.
Are there any concerns or issues with using dichlor and trichlor in a pool with salt?
Is it necessary to drain or dilute the salt content?
Thanks, Bill

The salt residual will not be a problem. Indeed, if you use liquid chlorine you will also be adding salt every time you add chlorine.
Since salt is a "disolved solid" it will show up as an elevated TDS level, so be sure to take that into account when you see a high TDS.
During service on salt pools when unit was down for repair I was able to use chlorine till fixed, then re-started with unit with no problem. I would say use chlorine as normal and over time the salt level will dilute to normal. I figure more customers will go back to chlorine after totaling the cost over tme for salt units. I figured the estimated cost of both and explained to customers when they considered salt units. Some don't mind the cost for the convienience, and I don't mind them when working right on service route, but the recovery of investment cost and upkeep is going to cause a good percentage to go back to tablets etc.
