A bill sponsored by SPEC to address serious problems associated withCalifornia’s Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (MWELO), now ineffect throughout the state, is off to a good start.
AB 2409unanimously passed the Assembly Water Parks and Wildlife Committee atits hearing on Tuesday, April 13th. As newly amended, AB 2409 revisesthe Urban Water Management Planning Act to direct local public agencieslike cities and counties to analyze and define “water feature”(including fountains, ponds, streams, and waterfalls) where water isartificially supplied, separately from swimming pools and spas whichshall be defined the same as in the Health and Safety Code.Completedetails on the amendments and more are found by reading the attachednews release.
