  • Ken, yes is our early days of R & D we did just that our findings were less than stellar not enough to make a significant temperature gain difference. So we teamed up with the Mechanical Engineering Department from the University of Minnesota and the PCS-1 Pool heater was born in 1984.

    The issue was the method of collecting the massive solar thermal heat inside the attic from pipes draped across the attic it was too passive and all though the water heated slightly it was nothing to get excited about. The attic remained stifling hot which we perceived was a lot of waisted solar energy. By making it active through our heat exchange technology it greatly increased the BTU output and made the technology viable. We quickly found out that capturing the hot attic air actively it had a significant side effect it cooled the attic down reducing the demand for air conditioning.
