How are you affiliated with the pool industry?
I am a very small, not so well known, 1 person pool company called A. J. Contract Services, Inc. We do the usual fare of equipment repairs and upgrades for the large commercial pool market, but have evolved to specialize in Chemical Controllers, HCF Liquid Chlorine Feed Systems, and Water Testing... specifically the ProMinent DCM-500 Series Chemical Controllers, the SureWater High Capacity Liquid Chlorine Venturi Feeders, and the Palintest Photometers. My goal is to give back to the industry, and share what I have learned, or am concerned about. In this age of DBP awareness, it's time for this industry to open up and share ideas. This is a trend that we are refreshingly seeing more and more in the industry. We don't pretend to be scientists or experts in water chemistry. All we are doing is searching for reasons that makes sense. Perhaps this is the time for change, and for us to look at what is considered as "standard practice", and to look out of the box for possible alternatives. I am very protective of technologies I choose to align myself with. My stance on any product or new technology has always been based on objectivity and what makes common sense. It is just too easy for some companies to put out false claims, and back them up with pseudoscience exaggerations that sound good at first, but have little credibility in science, basic chemistry, or current research to back them up. I am frequently told by many manufacturers and dealers that I have a tendency to ask questions that nobody has asked before. Those who know me know that I base a high priority on trust and objectivity; and as a result, know that I will give them the tools and the most current information they need, (both pro and con), to help them make their own objective decisions as to what is right for them and their facilities to use.
