Alternative to Tile Boarder

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with removing old tile and replacing it with a painted or border? I have done it once and had ok results but I was just wondering if anyone else has some alternative ideas besides replacing all the tile. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Years ago, we would take PebbleTec up to the coping with no tile. But found that if scale developed on the waterline (which is highly likely) it is hard to remove. It would also crack from sun exposure. You can use rock facing, but will have the same scale issue. Paint will oxidize over time and will need repeated maintenance.

Tile is really your best bet, especially glossy tile. Scale doesn't adhere as easily and it is easier to clean.
