Hiring the right people

How come when I call other pool service companies from New Jersey to Florida to get information on a person who is applying for a job and has past experience with other pool companies, no one wants to discuss the persons work ethic? I thought all pool service companies should stick together and help each other out? There should be an easier way to do a backround check, especially if they have past experience. Any suggestions? If you hired someone who you thought was a good worker but turned out to be slow and lazy, how would you handle it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Isn't that the truth! They all talk about being a hard worker and wanting a job but no one makes an effort to try to prove it. They can't even come in and fill out an application. My question is more about how you can do a backround check on the applications. I called a pool store in Florida to ask what type of work ethic this one guy has (that we wanted to hire) and the pool store would not answer any of my questions. We all need to work together and help each other out in our industry.

  • I agree with you, but so many of us are limited in the responses we can provide.
