Hey guys:

Our local health department has just denying the installation of two Pentair Intelliflo pumps for a commerical application. Their reasoning was that the pumps could be turned down below flow rate requirements... What do you guys think? Do you have any Intelliflo's installed on commercial pools?

required flow rate 189gpm....

  • Ignorance is bliss......
  • I have installed quite a few of these on commercial pools and have had no issues with the State regarding them. Everyone has been approved and David is correct that these can be locked out with a special code.
  • LA County had the same problem...

I think that Pentair addressed this with their latest software version on the VS/SVRS model. If I remember correctly, you can lock in a dedicated speed, and password protect it, so that no one can change the speed.

Our local HD allows them with the caveat that the system MUST be capable of handling the MAX flow of the pump through the plumbing... Which means 3" suction AND return in order to handle the 160gpm at a safe velocity.

Many counties across the country look to the LA County Health Dpt. to determine their own requirements. Look into this further.
  • Pentair completely endorses the use of Intelliflo pumps on commercial applications.
