Hi, I currently serve as Senior Director, Technnical and Standards for the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP). The ANSI pool nad spa conseneus standards raise the bar in safety and pool construction and this process affects all of us. If you have any questions, commnets or suggestions, please feel free to contact me. You can find more information on our standards HERE

  • I too have been reading through the MAHC. I was amazed there isn't a section covering VGB. I assume they will just make it part of the code. But, of course, assuming can be a dangerous path.
  • I began reading the first drafts of "Model Aquatic Health Code" released by the CDC. I was wondering if the APSP has been working with the CDC on this?

I applaud the thought of building a template for health code, but, as with all federal government ventures they struggle to get things right the first time though.

I'd like to hear your thoughts.

  • Carvin,

How about a rundown of the standards, and what, if anything that is changing.

    Steve--
  • Thanks for posting Carvin. I agree with Ray that the standards are one of the most important contributions of the APSP. Keep us posted. I also recommend any reading this thread check out Steve Gorlins post on Hot Tub issues.

Thank you for all the good work you have been doing. Especially, Cal Title 20, National Pool Safety Act, VGB, and the ANSI/APSP 7 standard.
  • Thanks Carvin! Great to have you on board. The standards process is one of the most important elements of our industry and our goal at Pool Genius Network is to help all builders implement these valuable practices into their business.
