Hey Barrett! Thanks for the welcome message. I think this is a wonderful site and hope to be able to spend a little more time chatting and learning all I can. My husband was the pool builder, but after he became sick I have stepped in to keep things going. It's important to him (and me) that people learn there is a way to build an energy efficient "green" pool, not just with the "green" products that are available, but the pool structure itself so I've picked up the torch. Anyway, I didn't mean to sound off like this, but it's an amazing system. Hope all is good and well with you! Have a fabulous Friday!!
Barrett,
I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but I put some thought and I cam up with this.
As for the actual construction and labor, going green has not really entered our industry. We use large equipment that leaves a large carbon footprint and we clear areas of trees and natural vegetation.
On the materials of the typical inground pool, we are better, and in some cases not even realizing it. Concrete is a reusable material and can be recycled. The use of ash in the concrete has added a level of green to the equation as well. Rebar is of course recyclable, as is the steel or polymer wall of a vinyl pool. Recycled glass tile is another area that is considered green. If you are looking at the construction materials and not the actual construction method, you will have an easier time tying into the green angle.
Let me know if this helps
